If you knock out a tooth while playing a sport, it can have devastating effects on your smile and oral health. Knowing what to do is crucial. At the same time, it’s important not to let fear of dental trauma keep you out of the game. Nearly a third of adults say they fear getting a tooth knocked out more than breaking a bone or tearing a muscle, and more than a third say they actually avoided sports for fear of getting their teeth knocked out.
Over a quarter of adults say they’re unlikely to smile in holiday photos this coming season because of a tooth-related issue, and 41% say they’re avoiding sweets because they’re worried about tooth pain or injury. The good news? Nearly 3 in 5 adults say their New Year’s resolutions will, in some way, relate to improving oral health.
On Friday, Oct. 13, AAE President Dr. Craig S. Hirschberg will be broadcasting from a New York City studio to speak with news outlets across the country. Dr. Hirschberg will share information with the public about knocked out teeth, the benefits of seeing an endodontist as soon as issues arise, and trends on how Americans feel about their oral health.
Dr. Hirschberg will appear on news outlets in several cities nationwide, including the following:
- Cedar Rapids, Davenport and Ames, Iowa
- Memphis, Tenn.
- Las Vegas, Nev.
- Charleston-Huntington, W.Va.
